THE MAH-KEE-NAC SWIMMERS TOOK TO THE WATER TO RACE AGAINST THE BEST IN THE BERKSHIRES AT THE ANNUAL GREYLOCK SWIM MEET. WITH EIGHT CAMPS IN COMPETITION, POOL DIRECTOR CYNTHIA MCCONNELL AND HEAD COACH SAM "SHOVELS" PRICHETT TOOK NO SHORTCUTS IN THIS YEAR'S PREPARATIONS.
AFTER 2017'S CLOSE RESULT LEAVING MKN JUST SHY OF THE TITLE, THIS YEAR'S TEAM WAS EVEN MORE MOTIVATED TO PROVE SOMETHING. DOZENS OF HEATS LATER LED BY THE MONUMENTAL EFFORTS OF ZACH HANDEL AND JARED BODER, AS WELL AS THE SUCCESSES OF EACH AND EVERY TEAM MEMBER. THE RESULTS WERE IN AND MAH-KEE-NAC STOOD AS CHAMPIONS! CYNTHIA MCCONNELL'S PRIDE IN HER TEAM WAS FELT BY EVERYONE, "THIS GROUP OF SWIMMERS HAS ACCOMPLISHED THE MOST IN MY FIVE SUMMERS AND JUST PROVES THAT A SMALL GROUP, COMMITTED TO A CAUSE BIGGER THAN THEMSELVES, CAN ACHIEVE ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING."
GREYLOCK GOLF TOURNAMENT
IT WAS A BUSY DAY OF COMPETITION HOSTED BY CAMP GREYLOCK, WITH NOT ONLY OUR SWIMMERS HITTING THE WATER BUT OUR GOLFERS HITTING THE LINKS. THIS YEAR THE MAH-KEE-NAC TEAM CAPTAINED BY ZACH BERNSTEIN AND ETHAN BROWN PUT FORTH A TREMENDOUS PERFORMANCE. ZACH BERNSTEIN ALSO SHOWED GREAT TACT IN HELPING SOLVE A SCORING OVERSIGHT. ONCE THE TOTALS WERE RECALCULATED, THE MKN TEAM FINISHED AN ADMIRABLE SECOND PLACE JUST THREE STROKES BEHIND THE LEADER. RYDER BEGUN PUT FORTH A FANTASTIC RESULT WITH A SECOND PLACE FINISH AND FIRST YEAR TEAM MEMBER ZACH SINGER SHOT HIS FIRST ROUND EVER IN A FORMAL COMPETITION.
