Trips and That Thursday

Recap of our trip day or special event day

    HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!

Independence Day Bunting

Fourth of July, what a glorious day full of so many Mah-Kee-Nac traditions! Starting off with a sleep in, the campers and staff needed all of the extra energy to conquer the day of activities. After a hearty breakfast, the camp prepared for the first event of the day and a MKN favorite, The Tough Mudder.

Roughly 2.8 miles long all throughout the grounds of MKN (waterfront included!), the Tough Mudder challenge tests the determination, teamwork and perseverance of each bunk. Beginning with the Senecas', each bunk took turns at the starting line to begin their quest of completing the challenge for Summer 2019. Stations included everything from crawling through PVC pipe to pushing an enormous beach ball up the hill. Bright sun, blue skies, and gorgeous grins, Fourth of July was off to a fantastic start!

After the Tough Mudder, the camp ate lunch and enjoyed a much needed, extra long rest hour to gain back strength for the afternoon activities - Stockbridge Series, BBQ, Carnival, and the USA vs. Canada hockey game! 3-point Shot Contest, Ping Pong Tournament, and GaGa Championship had the campers and staff in full competition mode before dinner (more details of these events to follow in this week's Stockbridge Series Saturday).

A delicious BBQ by the waterfront was the perfect meal and setting to wind down a super fun day. After dinner, the Carnival started! Frisbee Slot, Coke or Pepsi, Bromance, Oreo on the Forehead, Plinko, Inflatables, Snow Cones, Cotton Candy, Churros...what's not to love at the Mah-Kee-Nac Carnival!

Following the Carnival, Teams USA and Canada warmed up on the hockey rink to compete in the annual Fourth of July Hockey Game. With a tie score in the series, the puck drop anticipation was felt all around camp.

Last but certainly not least, the camp enjoyed a lovely Tanglewood firework show to close an AMAZING FOURTH OF JULY!
