It was toasty today!

The day got off to a great start with daily programs - basketball players continued with dribbling drills, archery took up their bows, lacrosse hit the sticks, and tennis and baseball had another day of play.

After the first two periods, the counselors decided it was too hot to continue, so we segued into a "hot day schedule", where we throw the kids in the pool or the lake and let them cool off.

Hydration was key - water was passed out double time today.  The counselors also made sure that the kids put on extra sunscreen (we know they fight you on it, but we have sunscreen magic) and took breaks in the shade when needed.

By campus time, things had cooled down a bit and the kids selected their activities. The upper seniors hit the Trampball hard, as they've been known to do.  Trampball is like four square meets volleyball - but on a trampoline. The trampolines make it easy to spike the ball over the net for that big finish.

Many kids played ping pong while others sat on their porches and cooled off. Lots of pink smiling faces were seen all over camp.

Evening Activity was tons of fun as we kicked off Founders Cup. Founders Cup is a major Mah-Kee-Nac tradition.  Each camper is placed onto one of four teams and the teams play each other in a variety of creative competitions throughout session one.  At the end of four weeks, a winner is declared!

Last night, the younger campers showed off their skills for the upcoming draft. Senecas, our oldest campers, are team captains of the Founder's Cup and they get to draft their team. They try to secure a "specific set of skills" to put their team over the top. This is not all about athleticism - last night's tasks included mini games like tire push, a relay race over an obstacle course, catching footballs, and puzzles. The were then interviewed by various Senecas to help them determine who might fit into their extremely complex gaming strategy. You sent your camper's resume, right?
