FIRST DAY OF CAMP!

The day we've all been waiting for is finally here!
All of our 300 campers arrived by bus, car or van.
New campers got their first glimpse of their summer home while older campers said hello to familiar faces and geared up for another magical summer.
All of the campers were taken to their bunk, shown around, and introduced to their counselors and fellow bunk mates.
Then, they got some free time to just play on the campus (Junior, lower senior or upper senior) and play - pickleball, basketball, soccer, Trampball, kickball, Spikeball, and more.
And TJC (junior campers) enjoyed their first pool time of the summer.
All campers took their lake swim tests and it was a successful day of safe passes!
When evening arrives, we had our first flag lowering of the summer then went to our opening huddle. All campers gathered around the campfire and heard a bit about the "Mah-Kee-Nac" way.
Our oldest campers, the Senecas, lit lanterns as is our annual tradition and sent them into the air as the official start of summer.
Then, we moved to the field house for Opening Ceremonies. The Senecas gathered together on stage and led all of the campers in the MKN pledge:
I PROMISE TO HAVE FUN. ON THE FIELD, IN THE LAKE, AND IN THE BUNK. I WILL LAUGH. WITH ENERGY, HUMOR AND RESPECT I WILL REPRESENT THE VERY BEST OF MAH-KEE-NAC AND WITH MY FRIENDS, I WILL BE MY BEST.
