THE NEWS
The final days of MKN Summer 2025 were bittersweet.
Some beautiful moments of campers wrapping up their summers, as well as their final time at camp ever, and lots of sadness to say goodbye.
We enjoyed a great last day of regular program! We mixed it up a little bit to make sure that each camper got to participate in their favorite activities on our last day. Some favorites were obviously the lake, pickleball, trampball, tennis, and baseball!
Evening activity was our annual Banquet which includes the "Programmys" and Film Fest. Each summer the banquet dinner is hosted by the Algonquins, as a final send off to summer, to the Senecas, and the first step towards their year as the eldest campers. This year the banquet theme was MINECRAFT. The Algonquins decorated the dining hall, dressed up in Minecraft characters, hosted an emerald trading post, and even put on a show for us! Dinner was delicious, and A LOT of food was eaten. After dinner, we went straight to the field house and filled the stands for a night of Programmys - camp’s version of our program awards. Each counselor took the stage with their program areas to recognize campers who had consistently visited their programs throughout the summer and showed a lot of dedication, commitment, progress, and an overall positive attitude. You can check out all of our program award winners on Campanion! Mixed into the program awards was our Tobias Maher Film Festival. Six camper films were displayed last night and “Toby’s” were awarded for 4 categories:
Best supporting actors (Mason, Zack, David) Film by Ari Goren
Best lead actor in a role - Connor Lundy in The Beast
Best Director - Ari Goren
Best Film - The Curse of the Black Lake by Ari Goren
The next day was the last full day of camp for the summer. The day was spent packing and spending time with bunks. During lunch, we had a very bittersweet dance party. The afternoon we did get back out to some activities. TJC got to spend some time in the pool, LSR also went to the pool, and USR spent lots of time on trampball, tennis, pickleball and other favorite activities. Around 5:30 each campus had their last final “assembly” where they each celebrated their best moments of the summer. On USR a ceremonial half-court shot was attempted at assembly each day. Today's was attempted and MADE by none other than the Adam Wain. The whole campus cheered and celebrated Adam in his big moment.
Evening activity was the final “Candlelight” huddle and summer recap video as well as closing Ceremonies.
Thank you for sharing your boys with us, we'll see you next summer!
