View above link for teams & updated scoring
Today was Olympics day one and it was FULL of excitement! We had lots of events starting with a TJC morning swim meet in the morning. LSR played tennis and hockey and USR played some One-Pitch Softball.
After lunch, LSR and USR immediately competed in a triathlon. Then TJC had a track meet, LSR had flag football and singles pickleball, and USR had bucket golf and waterfront event rotations, which included a time-trial on the inflatables, canoe tug-of-war, paddleboard relay, and a game of greasy watermelon.
After all of these events, USR had a water marathon, where campers and counselors had to pass a buoy baton to their teammate at the next part of the race and they competed to finish first. Following the water marathon, we went over to the Lacrosse field, where there was a TJC/LSR biathlon, followed by a USR biathlon. Then, it was onto the high jump, which ended up going to very impressive heights! This led into the team long jump, where every single person on each team had to do a standing long jump. While this was happening, we also had a 4x100m dash, which involved 1 TJC, 1 LSR, 1 USR and 1 counselor from each team, handing off a baton to each other.
After a fun-packed day, we broke for dinner, but the kids couldn't wait to get back to their events.
The teams also worked on their banners, which are always a creative a fun pun on their country name and will be revealed for all and eventually judged for points.
After dinner, TJC had an ultimate frisbee tournament and single TrampBall tournament. LSR had doubles pickleball, disc golf, and a swim meet. USR had a basketball tournament and a volleyball tournament. After all of these events concluded, we moved over to the dining hall for the opening ceremony, where everyone watched as Alan Rudolph carried the torch and collected all of the Senecas to lead them to light the Olympic Flame. Prior to lighting the flame, all of Team O had to took their officials oath, and all athletes said their athlete’s oath. After the opening ceremony, TJC and LSR were sent to bed, while USR went on to have speed skating, then a 4v4 arena soccer tournament.
