Happy Fourth of July to all and what a happy 4th it was here at MKN!

We started the day with our annual Tough Mudder, which is a grueling and very dirty obstacle course that always leaves the kids exhausted, exhilarated and extremely proud.

Bunk by bunk, starting with the Algonquins, the campers went through the ToughMudder course together. They began with having to move cinder blocks one by one. Then, on to a run through the woods, working together to push an actual car, carrying logs, jumping through small tires then rolling a huge tire, Army crawling under a net, a wheelbarrow push and more.

After working together to complete the tasks - no bunk can move forward until the entire bunk has finished a task - they all came to the big finish line, which was a slip-and-slide covered in soap and water that both the campers and staff had to dive down.

This finale did the dual task of completing the Mudder AND cleaning the dirty bodies. Then, they all got to cool off in the pool.

After the swim, we had our annual 4th of July Carnival! We had tons of games and activities like inflatable courses where you could race your friends, bounce houses, a dunk tank, food booths, a “Bromance” certificate station, and a variety of small competitions for the campers to gain raffle tickets - to be used later.
For evening activity, everyone gathered in the amphitheater (our outdoor huddle space) for an auction. In the auction, bunks came together to bid on different prizes using their collected raffle tickets. Some of the prizes included “Fabi cleans your bunk”, “Trampball with Jake”, “Smoothies with Jamie”, “Omelets with Rachel”, “Pontoon Party”, “Smores”, “Pizza Party”, “Movie Night in Kevin’s Office”, “Serenaded by Bryan Paget”, “Extra Tubing”.

After all was said and done and the kids had the best day ever, we closed the evening with yummy S'mores!
