THE NEWS

-
Lunch - Taco Tuesday!
-
Dinner - Beef brisket, fingerling potatoes, corn on the cob.
Today was mostly hot and sunny, then the heat broke with a rain shower in the evening, which was nice.
Today was also our first day of sports tournaments, which the campers (and counselor/coaches) always love. You'll see lots of tournaments throughout the summer - they're a fun way for campers to excel at the sports they love as well as try something new.
Tournaments are completely optional and all campers are allowed to participate in whatever sport they want.
We hosted this tournaments this time - sometimes we go to other camps - sometimes it's a mix of both.
Today's tournaments included:
-
Iroquois basketball tournament
-
Tennis tournament - MKN U16 took first place
-
Cherokee/Cheyanne baseball game
-
Cherokee/Cheyanne basketball tournament
Those who did not participate in a tournament had regularly scheduled programming.
Evening activity was GREEN and WHITE Sorting.
We had lights, we had action, we had...bagpipes!
Green & White is our yearly color war, which takes place at the end of session one. Unlike Founder's Cup, once you're on a G&W team, you're on it for life.
Every year, the new campers are 'sorted' a la Harry Potter onto one of the two teams, and it's a big, exciting event. The new campers step up one at a time and are 'presented' to their new team to big cheers and hugs from their team's Senecas (our oldest campers) who are painted head to toe in their team colors.
